Sales and purchases of kites and twines get momentum in the city after permission from the Punjab government, with a great rush of kite lovers at all designated shops. Mochi Gate, Mozang, Liberty, Baghbanpura and Shahbagh are among the city localities that witness Basant festivities ahead of the festival.
Colourful kites of different sizes are attracting buyers, with many of them complaining about the high prices of strings and kites. Five days are left for Basant, which Lahorites say is quite short, as everything pertaining to Basant is in short supply. Dozens of buyers could be seen returning home empty-handed or with assurance from the sellers that a new supply will arrive soon.
