A police officer in Karachi, Abrar Shah, was arrested under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 for posting derogatory remarks about former President Asif Ali Zardari on social media. The offensive comments, which were seen as insulting to Zardari and his late wife Benazir Bhutto, led to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Yaqoob. The officer faces charges under PECA and the Pakistan Penal Code for provocation and intentional insult.
