Karachi Faces Criticism Over Offal Disposal Amid Eid Cleanup Issues

Despite disposing of over 100,000 tonnes of animal waste during Eid, the PPP-led Karachi municipal administration faced criticism for poor sanitation. While 99 collection points were set up, the efforts were disrupted by rag-pickers scattering offal across streets. Weak enforcement of Section 144 and limited law enforcement presence worsened the situation. Municipal workers continued cleanup operations, but lack of coordination and resources highlighted major gaps in the city’s waste management system during Eid.
