Justice Ejaz Swati Nominated as Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has nominated Justice Muhammad Ejaz Swati as the next Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC). This decision was made during a JCP meeting held on May 19, 2025, where the commission reached a consensus on his nomination. A formal request has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for further action. 

Justice Swati has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the BHC since February 14, 2025.  Born on June 6, 1963, in Quetta, he completed his M.A. in English from the University of Balochistan and obtained his LL.B. from University Law College Quetta in 1988. He was enrolled as an advocate of the BHC in 1991 and of the Supreme Court in 2007. Over his 22-year legal career, he has practiced in various courts, including the BHC, Federal Shariat Court, and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He served as a judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Turbat from 2002 to 2003. Justice Swati was appointed as an Additional Judge of the BHC in August 2013 and was confirmed as a Judge in September 2015. 

His nomination as Chief Justice follows the elevation of his predecessor, Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar, to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on February 14, 2025.
