IT Minister Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Digital Transparency and Accountability

At the Leap 2025 technology conference in Riyadh, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to transparency and accountability on digital platforms. She emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and called for global collaboration to develop responsible AI governance frameworks that ensure data privacy, security, and fairness. The minister highlighted the importance of bridging the digital divide in developing nations through inclusive policies and capacity-building initiatives. She also advocated for environmentally responsible AI development to minimize its carbon footprint. Additionally, Khawaja discussed Pakistan’s commitment to formulating a comprehensive AI policy aimed at enhancing public services, driving economic growth, and building a sustainable digital ecosystem.
