Iran’s Khamenei Doubts Success of Nuclear Talks with the US

Jarida Report

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressed skepticism about the potential success of ongoing nuclear negotiations with the United States. During a speech on May 20, 2025, he stated, “We don’t think it will lead to any outcome. We don’t know what will happen,” and criticized U.S. demands to halt Iran’s uranium enrichment, calling it a “big mistake.” Iran has maintained its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, while the U.S. insists on a complete cessation of enrichment activities. The two nations have held four rounds of Omani-mediated talks since April 12, but significant differences remain, particularly over enrichment levels and sanctions relief.
