Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met in Islamabad on Sunday to discuss the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) conduct during recent negotiations with the government. Despite initiating dialogue in late December to ease political tensions, talks have stalled over key issues, including the formation of judicial commissions and the release of PTI prisoners. The PTI recently boycotted a meeting, citing delays in establishing commissions to investigate protests from May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024. The government extended an invitation to resume talks through a proposed parliamentary committee, which the PTI declined. During their meeting, Naqvi commended Sadiq’s efforts to unify opposition and government parties. Both officials also expressed satisfaction with the country’s improving economic situation and discussed measures to address public concerns.Â
