India Sends Troops to Egypt for “Exercise Bright Star 2025

Jarida Report

India has dispatched more than 700 military personnel to Egypt for Exercise Bright Star 2025, one of the largest multinational military drills in the Middle East. The exercise, running from August 28 to September 10, will bring together forces from several countries to sharpen joint operational skills across land, sea, and air domains.

The Indian contingent, comprising elements from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, marks one of New Delhi’s most significant overseas deployments for a combined training exercise. Officials said the participation highlights India’s growing defense outreach and its focus on building interoperability with partner nations.

Bright Star, which was launched in 1980, is an event held every two years and organized at the leadership of Egypt under the strong participation of the U.S. In the case of India, it is not only an indication of an intensifying strategic relationship with Egypt but also a pointer to the wider agenda of achieving enhanced military cooperation in those regions of importance to its security considerations.
