Jarida Report

The inaugural Under-23 World Squash Championships are currently underway at Karachi’s Creek Club from April 6 to 10, 2025. This landmark event features both men’s and women’s singles tournaments, each with 32 players competing for a share of the $60,000 prize pool and valuable PSA ranking points. Notably, winners will secure automatic qualification for the PSA World Championships.

Pakistan is well-represented, with six players participating. On the opening day, Noor Zaman, the second seed, achieved a decisive victory against Kuwait’s Hussain Alzaatari. Former world junior champion Hamza Khan also secured a straight-sets win over Romania’s Radu Stefan Pena. However, Mariam Malik faced a tough match, losing to Spain’s Noa Romero Blazquez.

This championship not only provides emerging talents a platform to showcase their skills but also signifies Pakistan’s renewed commitment to promoting squash, with aspirations to return to its former prominence in the sport.
