Imran Khan’s Sons Break Silence: Call for Global Attention to Father’s Incarceration

Jarida Report

In a rare public interview published on May 13, 2025, Imran Khan’s sons, Suleman (28) and Qasim (26), voiced deep concern over their father’s prolonged incarceration and the conditions he faces in Adiala Jail. Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been imprisoned since August 2023, serving a sentence related to the £190 million corruption case and facing additional charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act stemming from the May 9, 2023, protests.

The brothers revealed that, despite a court order in November 2023 permitting weekly contact, their communication with their father has been sporadic and challenging. They mentioned that calls are often scheduled at inconvenient times with limited durations, sometimes resulting in months-long gaps between conversations.

Expressing frustration over the ineffectiveness of legal avenues, Qasim stated, “We never thought he would be in there a fraction of how long he’s been in there. And it’s only getting worse.” Suleman added that international media attention has waned, prompting them to speak out publicly in hopes of reigniting global awareness and pressure.

They appealed to the international community, including the Trump administration, to advocate for their father’s release and the restoration of democratic principles in Pakistan. Both emphasized their non-involvement in politics and noted that they had their father’s blessing to speak out.

Their mother, Jemima Goldsmith, has also highlighted their detachment from Pakistani politics, especially after anti-PTI protests occurred outside her UK residence in 2022.

This interview marks the first time Suleman and Qasim have publicly addressed their father’s imprisonment, aiming to draw international attention to his situation and advocate for his basic human rights.
