Growing Number of Indians Lose Faith in Better Living Standards Under Modi: Survey

Jarida Report

A recent survey by polling agency C-Voter indicates that an increasing number of Indians are pessimistic about their future quality of life. Over 37% of respondents anticipate a decline in living standards in the coming year, marking the highest level of such sentiment since 2013. Despite India’s position as the world’s fifth-largest economy, persistent high food inflation has strained household budgets, leading to concerns about economic growth and personal financial stability. Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed believe that inflation has remained unchecked since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, with more than half reporting that rising prices have adversely affected their quality of life. Additionally, nearly half of the respondents noted that their personal income has stagnated over the past year while expenses have increased, making it challenging to manage their finances. These findings come as the government prepares to announce measures aimed at bolstering economic growth and supporting the middle class in the upcoming annual budget.
