Govt Initiates Selection of Advisers for Power Firms and Plants

The federal government has started the process of appointing financial advisers for the privatisation or restructuring of four power distribution companies and two generation plants. These include HESCO, SEPCO, QESCO, PESCO, along with the Nandipur and Guddu power plants. The move is part of the broader reform agenda to reduce financial losses and improve efficiency in the energy sector. The Privatisation Commission has invited expressions of interest from consulting firms to guide the future course of action, including potential public-private partnerships.
