Government Employees Clash with Police in Violent Quetta Protest

Jarida Report

In Quetta, government employees protesting for pay raises clashed violently with police after being denied salary increases in the Balochistan budget. As they tried to march toward the assembly, police used tear gas and batons; over two dozen were arrested and several injured. The protesters demanded implementation of an 18-point charter including wage and pension reforms. CM Sarfraz Bugti defended the crackdown, saying their demands would strain the budget with an extra Rs. 40 billion burden.
