Former JI Senator’s Brother Shot Dead in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Shakeel Ahmad Khan, the elder brother of former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, was fatally shot outside his residence in Swabi’s Ahad Khan village, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday night.  The incident occurred when Shakeel attempted to mediate a violent dispute between his neighbor, Kamran, and Kamran’s father. Kamran, reportedly a drug addict and mentally unstable, had already shot his father before targeting Shakeel, resulting in both men’s deaths.  Another individual was injured and transported to Kalu Khan Hospital. The assailant fled the scene, and police have initiated a manhunt.  A first information report has been filed under Sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.  The funeral prayer for Shakeel was held in his native village on Sunday.
