EU to Impose $28 Billion in Counter-Tariffs on U.S. Goods

Jarida Report

The European Union (EU) will impose counter-tariffs on €26 billion ($28 billion) worth of U.S. goods starting April 1, 2025, in response to President Donald Trump’s 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. The EU’s measures target various U.S. products, including boats, bourbon, motorbikes, industrial items, and agricultural goods. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that while the EU’s actions are strong yet proportionate, they remain open to negotiations, aiming to protect EU consumers and businesses.
