Nagpur, Sept 18- Resident doctors in Maharashtra held a one-day strike on Thursday in protest against the state government decision to admit homeopathy practitioners to prescribe allopathic medicine after passing a short course in modern pharmacology (CCMP). The protest, supported by the Indian Medical Association, interfered with regular operations in private hospitals and clinics, but emergency services continued as usual.
Doctors claimed that the action puts the health of patients at risk and negates medical practices, with only those who received complete allopathic training allowed to attend to patients. The strike, which was witnessed between 8 AM and 8 PM, was one of the significant organized efforts of medical professionals in the state this year.
