Cricketer Hassan Ali’s mother was allegedly mugged in Gujranwala on May 28, 2025. According to Gujranwala City Police Officer Muhammad Ayaz Saleem, she was waiting by the roadside for her son Khurram to pick her up for a trip to the bazaar when an unidentified assailant snatched her purse and fled. The purse reportedly contained Rs230,000.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Sections 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) and 379 (punishment for theft) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Police have formed teams under the supervision of the SP City Division to apprehend the suspect. Efforts include geo-fencing and reviewing CCTV footage from the scene. CPO Saleem assured that the suspect would be arrested promptly and face exemplary punishment.
