Couple Burnt to Death in KP’s Shangla Amid Blazing Wildfire

A tragic incident occurred on the night of May 13, 2025, when a couple perished in a wildfire that ravaged the forests of Hasham Khel Dab mountains in Shangla district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The victims, identified as Hakim Zada and his wife Hajiroon, were attempting to protect firewood near their home when the fire quickly escalated due to strong winds. Despite their efforts, the fire overwhelmed them, leading to their deaths. Their bodies were recovered after the wildfire was extinguished. 

This incident highlights the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires in Pakistan, particularly in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In 2024 alone, over 50 wildfire incidents were reported in Shangla. The provincial government has pledged compensation to the families of the deceased and is actively working on measures to mitigate the impact of such disasters in the future.
