On May 7, Columbia University suspended over 65 students for participating in a pro-Palestinian protest that occupied Butler Library, disrupting academic activities. The students are barred from final exams and campus access, except for dormitories. An additional 33 individuals, including students from other institutions and alumni, were banned from campus. The demonstration, amid ongoing tensions over Gaza, led to numerous arrests and intensified scrutiny from the Trump administration, which had previously penalized the university over similar protests.
