The ongoing annual Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which will be hosted in China on September 17-19, will unite about 1,800 representatives of more than 100 countries including military officials, scholars, and government representatives. State media news report organisers claim that the event will be used by the state to sell its version of the global order opposition to hegemonic and power politics, which has often been viewed as opposition to U.S. influence.
Some of the issues that are likely to be mentioned include the modernisation of the Chinese military, the new weapon systems, and transparency regarding the command structure of the People liberation Army. Delegations of some countries are also going to
send junior officials, which will send a message of careful attendance due to the escalating tension in the South China Sea and the adjacent areas.
