CERP and Princeton Collaborate on Pakistan’s Long-Term Energy Transition Framework

The Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) and Princeton University have launched a collaborative initiative to develop a long-term energy transition roadmap for Pakistan. This project aims to address the nation’s energy challenges, including high costs, reliance on imported fossil fuels, outdated infrastructure, and power shortages. By leveraging Princeton’s expertise in net-zero projects, the initiative seeks to provide evidence-based strategies for shifting towards cleaner, more affordable energy sources aligned with Pakistan’s economic and development goals. A two-day workshop titled “Pakistan’s Energy Transition Roadmap” brought together over 50 stakeholders, including policymakers and researchers, to discuss practical solutions. Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari emphasized the need for credible data and formal collaboration with CERP to enhance planning efforts. The project underscores the urgency of climate resilience and sustainable growth in Pakistan’s energy sector.
