Celebrities Speak Out Against Late Payments in Showbiz, Demand Accountability

Jarida Report

Several Pakistani actors and industry veterans have raised their voices against the ongoing issue of delayed payments in the entertainment industry. Actor Syed Mohammed Ahmed criticized the system, saying artists are often forced to “beg like beggars” for their rightful dues, sometimes waiting months. Ahmed Ali Butt called it a toxic “industry standard,” where even 60–90 day payment terms are rarely honored. Faizan Khawaja announced he’s quitting the industry after facing years of non-payment and bounced cheques. Yasir Hussain, Nadia Afgan, and Mehreen Jabbar also joined the call, demanding accountability and better systems to protect artists from exploitation.
