Call for Urgent Climate Action to Secure South Asia’s Food Future

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has called on South Asian countries to urgently address climate change to build resilient and sustainable food systems. The region—home to over 2 billion people—is facing severe challenges such as rising temperatures, water scarcity, and unpredictable weather, all of which threaten food security and nutrition. IFPRI’s report stresses the need for climate-smart agriculture, improved policies, use of digital technologies, and greater focus on social inclusion—especially gender equality and youth employment—to tackle these growing risks effectively.
