Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal has reiterated his commitment to continue the party’s sit-in protest until the release of detained Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sammi Deen Baloch. This stance follows unsuccessful negotiations with a provincial government delegation comprising Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, and Sardar Noor Ahmed Bangulzai.
Mengal emphasized that the sole demand of the BNP-M is the release of the detained women, stating, “We told them that we will march towards Quetta, demanding the release of our women.” He also highlighted recent incidents, alleging that BYC leader Shahji Baloch and his relatives were taken from their residence during early morning raids.
The BNP-M’s protest march from Wadh to Quetta has faced significant challenges, including the detention of over 250 activists near Mastung and a suicide bombing that occurred on Saturday, which Mengal and other party members survived unhurt.
Despite these obstacles and the government’s attempts to negotiate, Mengal remains resolute, stating that if the authorities do not permit entry into Quetta, the party will hold a sit-in in Mastung.
