BNP-M Sit-in Enters 7th Day as Deadlock with Government Continues

Jarida Report

The Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) sit-in in Mastung has entered its seventh consecutive day, with party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal emphasizing that the deadlock with the government persists despite prior negotiations.

Mengal outlined three primary demands:

1. Release all Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) prisoners, including women.

2. Permit the BNP-M to proceed to Quetta for a peaceful sit-in.

3. Alternatively, arrest the BNP-M leadership and participants.

These demands were presented to a provincial government delegation, which had requested additional time for consultations. However, Mengal stated that the extended consultation period concluded without resolution. He warned that if the prisoners are not released, the BNP-M will march towards Quetta.

BNP-M central leader and former senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini criticized the government for closing major highways leading to Quetta, including the Lakpass Tunnel, Mastung, and Kolpur, causing public inconvenience. He noted that the number of sit-in participants has increased, as more individuals join in support of recovering their missing loved ones.
