Bangladeshi Student Leaders Form New Political Party After Revolution

Jarida Report

Bangladeshi students instrumental in last year’s revolution have formed the Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad (Democratic Student Council), incorporating key figures from the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) group that led the uprising against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Internal disputes over representation have led to clashes among members. Additionally, other SAD leaders involved in the interim government plan to establish a separate party soon. Meanwhile, ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has called for prompt elections following minimal reforms to restore democracy.
