Bangladesh Army Chief Warns Internal Conflict Threatens National Stability

Jarida Report

Bangladesh’s Army Chief, General Wakeruz Zaman, has expressed concern over internal conflicts jeopardizing the nation’s stability. Following the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last August, the country has faced escalating violent crime and political unrest. General Zaman emphasized that ongoing infighting among various groups could threaten Bangladesh’s independence and integrity. He urged unity and support for interim leader Muhammad Yunus, who aims to implement democratic reforms and conduct general elections by late 2025 or early 2026. The army chief also called for investigations into alleged human rights abuses by security forces to prevent a return to autocratic governance.
