Balochistan Assembly Condemns APS Bus Attack as Brutal Assault on Nation’s Future

Jarida Report

On May 26, 2025, the Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed a joint resolution condemning the suicide attack on an Army Public School (APS) bus in Khuzdar. The assault, which occurred earlier in the week, resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals, including eight students, and left over 40 others injured. Lawmakers from both the opposition and treasury benches described the attack as a “cowardly, brutal, and inhumane act” targeting innocent children on their way to school.

The resolution emphasized that such acts are deliberate attempts to destroy the peace and education in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan. It called for immediate action from the provincial government to bring the perpetrators and their facilitators to justice.

Members from various political parties expressed their outrage and concern over the incident. ANP’s Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai lamented the lack of implementation of the national action plan across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. National Party’s Kulsoom Niaz Baloch highlighted the absence of state writ and the worsening security situation in the province. Shahida Rauf of JUI-F condemned the attackers as cowardly enemies who deliberately targeted children. Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Mir Zahoor Buledi stated that terrorism has no religion or ideology, suggesting the attack’s roots could be traced to India. PML-N MPA Zarak Khan Mandokhail called for unity against those misleading the people, while Farah Azeem Shah of the BAP stated that the attack proved “terrorists supported by India were active in the province.” PPP MPA Haji Ali Madad Jattak remarked that the world now knows Pakistan’s enemies have moved from attacking borders to targeting children. Jamaat-i-Islami MPA Maulana Hidayatur Rehman stressed that protecting citizens is a constitutional obligation.

The resolution reflects a unified stance across political lines in Balochistan, underscoring the collective condemnation of the attack and a shared commitment to ensuring justice and security for all citizens.
