At 90, Dalai Lama Reveals Plan to Preserve His Institution After Death

On June 30, the Dalai Lama marked his 90th birthday during a celebratory gathering in McLeod Ganj, India. At the event, he announced that a formal “framework” will be established to determine whether the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue after his death  . He reassured followers of his robust health and commitment to global well-being, saying he’ll dedicate the remainder of his life to serving others  . Traditionally thought to be a reincarnation, he emphasized that any potential successor would be selected through a transparent process outside Chinese influence or birthplace
