On March 27, 2025, Amnesty International called on the Pakistani government to end what it describes as “systematic attacks and relentless crackdown” on Baloch activists protesting enforced disappearances and human rights violations. Babu Ram Pant, Amnesty’s Deputy Regional Director for South Asia, urged the immediate release of detained activists, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Bebarg Zehri, and highlighted concerns about their deteriorating health and lack of medical assistance in custody. Amnesty also criticized the use of “bogus” legal charges and preventive detentions, viewing these actions as violations of due process and fair trial rights. This statement follows similar demands from independent UN experts earlier in the week.
