Protesters calling for an end to the United Kingdom’s ban on Palestine Action are planning demonstrations in 18 towns and cities across the country next month. Defend Our Juries said protests will take place in Edinburgh, Cardiff, Oxford, Leeds, Aberystwyth, Nottingham, Northampton, Gloucester, Truro, London, Belfast, Manchester, Birmingham, Cambridge, Bristol, Sheffield, Exeter and Lancaster on various dates in November. Organisers said about 1,500 people could take part in the action next month. People accused of supporting the banned group who are currently in prison awaiting trial are also due to stage rolling hunger strikes starting on Sunday. (Al Jazeera)

U.S. President Donald Trump lavished praise on Japan's first female leader Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Tuesday, welcoming her pledge to accelerate a military buildup and signing deals on trade and rare earths. Takaichi, a protegee of Trump's late friend and golfing buddy Japanese leader Shinzo Abe, applauded Trump's push to resolve global conflicts, vowing to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize, according to Trump's spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt. The Pakistani delegation is making a last-ditch effort to settle the issue of terrorism emanating from Afghan soil through logic during the talks with the Afghan regime in Istanbul, sources said on Tuesday. Both sides held a series of hours-long dialogues in the Turkish capital, with the Afghan delegation changing its stance due to instructions received from Kabul each time. A man accused of killing former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe has pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial. Tetsuya Yamagami, 45, told a court in the capital Tokyo that "everything is true", according to local media. Yamagami used a homemade gun to shoot Abe during a political campaign event in the western city of Nara in 2022. Abe - who was known for his hawkish foreign policy and a signature economic strategy that popularly came to be known as "Abenomics" - was struck several times, and died in hospital later the same day, sending shockwaves around the world.

American multinational technology company Meta has officially launched Meta AI in Urdu for users in Pakistan, marking a major step toward making artificial intelligence tools more inclusive and locally accessible. The launch took place during the event “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation,” organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), according to a press release issued by the company. "These initiatives aim to accelerate the process of digital transformation in the country," read the release, adding: "Pakistani users will now be able to interact with Meta AI not only in English but also in Urdu." A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the army chief is currently on an official visit to Jordan and called on the Jordanian king for a meeting, with Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II also present. The ISPR said both dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in defence and security, and exchanging perspectives on regional developments. “His majesty appreciated the professionalism and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces towards regional peace and stability and expressed his desire to further strengthen defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries,” the ISPR said, adding that the army chief conveyed warm regards from Pakistan’s people, government and military.
