United States President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of the Ford last month, adding to the eight warships, a nuclear submarine and F-35 stealth aircraft already in the Caribbean. The Ford, which was commissioned in 2017, is the United States’ newest aircraft carrier and the world’s largest, with more than 5,000 sailors aboard. The Pentagon confirmed the arrival, which was first reported by Reuters, saying in a statement it would help “disrupt narcotics trafficking and degrade and dismantle transnational criminal organisations”. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has repeatedly alleged that the US buildup is designed to drive him from power.

French President Emmanuel Macron warned on Tuesday that any Israeli plans for annexation in the West Bank would be a "red line" and would provoke a European reaction. "Plans for partial or total annexation, whether legal or de facto, constitute a red line to which we will respond strongly with our European partners," said Macron after meeting Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas in Paris. "The violence of the settlers and the acceleration of settlement projects are reaching new heights, threatening the stability of the West Bank and constitute violations of international law," Macron added.

Britain plans to strengthen its public services' defences against cyberattacks, requiring companies that provide services to private and public sector organisations such as the National Health Service to meet strict security standards. In 2024, hackers breached the Ministry of Defence's payroll system and other recent attacks included one that disrupted over 11,000 NHS medical appointments and procedures. The proposals also follow a series of cyberattacks in recent months that disrupted some of Britain's biggest brands, including Marks & Spencer, the Co-op, and Jaguar Land Rover.

Saudi Arabia is expected to host a US-Saudi investment summit in Washington on November 19 during a visit by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also known as MBS, according to a source familiar with the planning. The crown prince will be in Washington to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on November 18, a White House official said last week. The summit will be held on the sidelines of bin Salman's visit and not be a part of his official schedule, the source said, declining to be identified because the event is not yet public. Trump and Bin Salman may drop in, but their participation was not currently part of the programme, the source added.
