Aftershocks Jolt Afghanistan Tremors Felt in Pakistan

Jarida Report

Two strong aftershocks shook Eastern Afghanistan within 12 hours on September 5. This had the highest magnitude of 5.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquakes hit regions that had already been devastated by the quake last week, that claimed over 2,200 lives and destroyed 6,700 houses in various provinces.

Rescue operations remain stretched, with thousands of families still in need of shelter and medical care. Officials in Pakistan confirmed the shocks were felt in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, though no local damage was reported. Seismologists warn the region could face continued instability in the coming days, intensifying humanitarian challenges on both sides.
