Afghan Taliban Reject ICC Arrest Warrant as ‘Politically Motivated’

The Afghan Taliban government has dismissed the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) recent move to issue arrest warrants for its leaders over alleged persecution of women, labeling the action as “politically motivated” and indicative of double standards. The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry criticized the ICC for ignoring past war crimes by foreign forces during Afghanistan’s occupation. Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Nabi Omari further accused the ICC of bias, questioning why figures like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu haven’t been prosecuted for actions in Gaza.
