Afghan National Arrested in Balakot for Attempted Kidnapping of Schoolgirl

On May 7, 2025, Balakot police arrested an Afghan national, Abdul Qadeer, for attempting to kidnap a first-grade schoolgirl. The incident occurred as the girl was on her way to school; she cried for help when Qadeer tried to lure her away, prompting him to flee. Her mother and neighbors immediately reported the incident to the police. Law enforcement swiftly launched a search operation, sealing the city’s entry and exit points, and apprehended the suspect within two hours in the Shawal area. Preliminary investigations revealed that Qadeer resided in the Pakhwal area of Mansehra district and was wanted for several criminal activities. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, especially concerning children’s safety.
