Two Men Sentenced to Death for Murder of Family Member in Toba Tek Singh

On March 24, 2025, an additional sessions judge in Toba Tek Singh sentenced Abdul Sattar and his son, Faisal, to death for the murder of Maria Bibi, their daughter and sister, respectively. Maria was killed on March 17, 2024, in Chak 477-JB Allowal. Initially, Faisal confessed on camera to raping and strangling Maria to conceal an incestuous relationship; however, DNA tests later refuted claims of rape or pregnancy. The court also ordered each convict to pay Rs10 million in compensation to Maria’s legal heirs. Another brother, Shahbaz, and his wife, Sumaira, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
