Since the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on corruption and terrorism charges, Turkish authorities have detained over 1,100 individuals across more than 55 provinces. The detainees include at least 10 journalists who were covering the protests. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that these arrests were due to “illegal activities” associated with the demonstrations.
