Karachi Commissioner Orders Crackdown on Begging Ahead of Eidul Fitr

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed deputy commissioners to implement measures to curb professional begging ahead of Eidul Fitr. Over the past 22 days, 220 professional beggars have been arrested, with efforts underway to prevent their return. Deputy commissioners are tasked with identifying and apprehending handlers of beggars, collaborating with social welfare organizations, NGOs, traffic police, and local law enforcement. This initiative follows a Sindh High Court order in January instructing traffic police to take action against beggars at traffic signals.
