Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced plans to protest against the federal government’s policies after Eidul Fitr, potentially in collaboration with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, he mentioned that a meeting of the JUI-F general assembly would be convened to devise a protest strategy and assess the country’s situation. Fazl criticized the current government and parliament as “puppets” and expressed concern over employee dismissals in institutions like postal services and the Public Works Department. He acknowledged that while the “real leadership of PTI” remains incarcerated, reducing bitterness between the two parties could pave the way for an alliance in the anti-government movement.
