On March 11, 2025, armed insurgents attacked the Jaffar Express, a passenger train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, near Balochistan’s Bolan district. The assault wounded the train driver, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the assailants and onboard security personnel. The train, carrying approximately 500 passengers, halted in a remote area, prompting the Balochistan government to declare an emergency and dispatch reinforcements and ambulances to the site. Access challenges arose due to the mountainous terrain. The separatist Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.Â
