India Eyes Private Sector to Boost Fighter Jet Production

Jarida Report

An Indian defense panel has recommended involving private sector companies in military aircraft manufacturing to boost the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) capabilities. This move aims to address the IAF’s squadron shortages and reduce dependence on state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), which faces production delays. The IAF needs 35-40 new fighters annually to meet its operational goals. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has directed swift implementation of the recommendations to enhance self-reliance in India’s defense manufacturing sector.
