At the 96th Academy Awards, Palestinian filmmaker Basel Adra made a poignant statement by wearing white trainers adorned with traditional Palestinian tatreez embroidery. These shoes were crafted by Resolute RGL, a brand he co-founded, which collaborates with a women’s weaving cooperative in the South Hebron Hills, led by his mother, Kifah Adra. The trainers feature intricate hand-stitched designs in terracotta and sky blue, reflecting Palestinian craftsmanship and sustainability through the use of recycled materials.
