The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced on Friday that the Ramazan moon was not sighted in Pakistan; therefore, the holy month will commence on Sunday, March 2. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad stated that no credible testimonies of moon sightings were received from any part of the country. Earlier, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) had predicted that Ramazan would begin on March 2, based on astronomical models indicating the moon would not be visible on February 28.
