Man Who Stabbed Salman Rushdie Convicted of Attempted Murder

Hadi Matar, the assailant who attacked author Salman Rushdie in August 2022, has been found guilty of attempted murder and assault. The jury in Chautauqua County, New York, delivered the verdict after less than two hours of deliberation. Rushdie, 77, was stabbed multiple times during a lecture, resulting in the loss of sight in his right eye and damage to his liver and hand. Matar, 27, faces up to 25 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for April 23.
