Tajikistan to Publish New Dress Code Guidelines for Women

Tajikistan plans to release a new book in July detailing dress guidelines for women, specifying appropriate attire based on age and setting, such as at home or during events. This initiative aims to promote traditional Tajik clothing and counteract what authorities perceive as radical Islamic cultural influences. The government has previously banned clothing alien to national culture,including the hijab, and has discouraged practices like wearing long beards to combat religious extremism.
