Judicial Magistrate Orders Exhumation of Mustafa Amir’s Body in Abduction-Murder Case

On February 17, 2025, Judicial Magistrate Syeda Urooj Fatimah Naqvi ordered the exhumation of 23-year-old Mustafa Amirs body and directed the formation of a medical board to complete the procedure within seven days. Amir was abducted from Karachis Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 6, and his family received a ransom call two weeks later. During the investigation, police arrested a suspect named Armaghan, who claimed that Amir was murdered by his friends. Another suspect, Shavez Bukhari, was also presented in court for interrogation. On January 12, an unidentified body was found in a torched car in Hub and was subsequently buried by the Edhi Foundation in Karachi on January 16. The exhumation order was issued following an application by Investigation Officer Muhammad Ali. Additionally, three police officers were suspended and demoted for mishandling the case.
