On January 31, 2025, Pakistani security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the elimination of four terrorists. Among them was Badaruddin, also known as Yousaf, identified as the son of the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s Badghis province. Reports indicate that Badaruddin had received training at an Afghan Taliban center before joining the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and was actively involved in orchestrating cross-border attacks into Pakistan. During the operation, security forces recovered advanced American-made night vision equipment, along with M16A4 and M24 sniper rifles from the deceased terrorists. Despite multiple requests from Pakistan, Afghan authorities declined to repatriate Badaruddin’s body. This incident underscores ongoing concerns about the TTP utilizing Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistan.
