Health Ministry Converts Dismissal of PIMS Official Over Corruption Charges to Compulsory Retirement

Jarida Report

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (MoNHSRC) has converted the dismissal of a Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) employee over corruption allegations into compulsory retirement, according to sources.

Sources at PIMS said Maqboolur Rehman, a Grade-16 employee who served as a private secretary in the Department of General Surgery, had initially been dismissed following an inquiry into the issuance of fraudulent house job certificates.

The inquiry reportedly found that 24 fake house job certificates had been issued to house officers in exchange for money. Investigators also verified financial transactions in his bank account, sources said.

According to the sources, Rehman admitted to the corruption allegations during the inquiry.

PIMS management had initiated disciplinary proceedings against the employee, following which former Executive Director Professor Imran Sikandar issued his dismissal order on May 30 under the Civil Servants Rules.

The health ministry subsequently converted the dismissal into compulsory retirement, granting him relief from the original disciplinary action.
