Jarida Report

A brilliant century from Salman Ali Agha and a three-wicket performance by captain Shaheen Shah Afridi helped Pakistan secure a 37-run victory over Sri Lanka in their one-day international encounter in Rawalpindi.

Agha, 32, struck an impressive 107 off 90 deliveries, including 10 fours and a six, guiding Pakistan to 305 all out in 49.5 overs.

Sri Lanka responded with 268 in 48.1 overs, as Shaheen led Pakistan’s bowling attack with figures of 3-55.

The visitors remained competitive through a 119-run fifth-wicket partnership between Pavan Rathnayake and Janith Liyanage.

Rathnayake scored 79, hitting two sixes and six fours, while Liyanage contributed 60 with five boundaries. Opener Kamindu Mendis also played an attacking innings of 44.

However, Pakistan regained control after dismissing both established batters. Sri Lanka subsequently lost their final five wickets for just 15 runs, with Dasun Shanaka contributing 28.

Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Faheem Ashraf supported Shaheen with two wickets each.
