TikTok has permanently disabled the advertising account used to promote Musk, a documentary examining billionaire Elon Musk’s business ventures and political activities, citing repeated breaches of its political advertising rules.
According to a Saturday report by The Hollywood Reporter, film distributor Bleecker Street was notified on Friday afternoon that its advertising account would be permanently suspended.
The decision prevents the company from purchasing advertisements or paying to increase the visibility of posts promoting the documentary.
However, the film’s regular TikTok account remains operational, allowing the distributor to continue sharing unpaid content.
A Bleecker Street spokesperson confirmed the suspension and expressed disappointment over its timing, particularly as the documentary was expanding its theatrical release to more than 470 cinemas across North America.
